HOW DO YOU USE SAFRAX CHLORINE DIOXIDE FOR CARPET CLEANING?

Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide is an effective solution for removing odors from carpets and upholstery in rental units, lobbies, and other common areas. It is especially useful for eliminating stubborn odors like smoke, pet odors, or musty smells.
Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide can be applied directly to carpet fibers through various methods, including spraying or injection, to target specific problem areas.
It can also be used in a carpet cleaning machine to clean and disinfect carpets quickly and efficiently. Here are the general steps for using chlorine dioxide in a carpet cleaning machine:

1. Dilute the Chlorine Dioxide Solution:
Prepare the solution according to the required concentration (PPM). Always test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area of the carpet before treating the entire surface, as chlorine dioxide can sometimes cause discoloration (similar to bleach) on certain types of carpets:
    – General Treatment: 500 to 1,000 PPM  (To achieve a concentration of 500 PPM, add 5 tablets to 32 ounces of water. For a concentration of 1,000 PPM, add 10 tablets to 32 ounces of water).
    – Pet Urine Treatment: 2,000 to 3,000 PPM  (To achieve a concentration of 2000 PPM, add 20 tablets to 32 ounces of water. For a concentration of 3,000 PPM, add 30 tablets to 32 ounces of water, be cautious of ClO2 gas fumes when adding 20 to 30 tablets to 32 ounces of water. Avoid inhaling the fumes. As a precaution, wear a mask or respirator while mixing the solution.).

2. Fill the Carpet Cleaning Machine:
Pour the diluted chlorine dioxide solution into the machine’s solution tank.

3. Clean the Carpet:
Clean the carpet as usual, focusing on heavily soiled or stained areas. Ensure that the solution is applied evenly across the entire carpet. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes to penetrate the carpet fibers, while using the machine’s brushes to help distribute the solution and loosen dirt or debris.

4. Extract the Solution:
Use the machine’s suction system to thoroughly extract the solution from the carpet.

Important:  Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide may discolor organic fabrics, so be sure to perform a spot test first.
