WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF OPENED SAFRAX BAGS?
Once opened, Safrax tablets typically have a shelf life of about 30 days due to their high sensitivity to humidity. In some cases, they may last 60-90 days, but we recommend planning for 30 days to be safe. When exposed to moisture, the tablets can absorb humidity, swell, become powdery, and lose effectiveness.
The POOL and DISIN packages now come with five 100-tablet packs inside the outer bag, making them ideal for extending shelf life if you use the tablets more slowly.
Additionally, the new “SURVIVAL BAG” which contains 120 individually wrapped tablets, is a great option for slow consumption.
To maximize shelf life, transfer the opened bag (still inside its original Safrax outer wrapping) into an airtight container.
For the best results, store the tablets in a glass or plastic jar with a screw-type plastic lid that has an inner seal, such as a canning jar. We’ve found that old peanut butter jars work well for this purpose. Keep the container in a closed cabinet, away from children.
Adding one or two humidity-absorbing packets can further extend shelf life.
Note: Storage methods like vacuum sealing have not been shown to significantly extend the shelf life of opened bags. Some users have reported getting an extra month with these methods, but we cannot guarantee the results.
